Establishing a reliable determination of the final mass for rapidly accreting supermassive stars

چکیده
Context. The formation of supermassive black holes possibly takes place via direct collapse, with a star (SMS) as its progenitor. In this scenario, the SMS accretes at > 0.1 M ? yr ?1 until it collapses into massive hole seed result general-relativistic (GR) instability. However, exact mass which collapse occurs is not known, existing numerical simulations give us divergent range results. Aims. Here, we address problem analytically, allows for reliable ab initio determination onset point GR instability, given hydrostatic structures. Methods. We applied relativistic equation radial pulsations in general form to GENEC models already published literature. Results. show that spherical SMSs forming atomically cooled halos cannot exceed 500 000 , stands contrast previous claims. On other hand, masses excess limit, up ?10 6 could be reached alternative versions collapse. Conclusions. Our method can used test consistency hydrodynamical stellar evolution codes.

Thermonuclear Burning on Rapidly Accreting Neutron Stars
Neutron stars in mass-transferring binaries are accreting the hydrogen and helium rich matter from the surfaces of their companions. This article explains the physics associated with how that material eventually fuses to form heavier nuclei and the observations of the time dependent phenomena (such as Type I X-ray bursts) associated with the thermally unstable thermonuclear reactions. The major...

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Collapse of a Rotating Supermassive Star to a Supermassive Black Hole: Analytic Determination of the Black Hole Mass and Spin
The collapse of a uniformaly rotating, supermassive star (SMS) to a supermassive black hole (SMBH) has been followed recently by means of hydrodynamic simulations in full general relativity. The initial SMS of arbitrary mass M in these simulations rotates uniformly at the mass–shedding limit and is marginally unstable to radial collapse. The final black hole mass and spin have been determined t...
متن کاملThe Angular Momentum of Accreting Neutron Stars
I review the rotation measurements of accreting neutron stars. Many of the highly magnetic (B > 10 G) accreting X-ray pulsars have been continuously observed with the Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) aboard the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) since April 1991. These observations show that the accretion torque exerted on many disk-fed accreting X-ray pulsars changes sign on a m...
